Aishwarya Rai & Abhishek Bachchan - Too Filmy to be True

Its the matrimonial speculation of the year. While many girls are heartbroken and constantly curse Aishwarya for even getting close enough to the word 'marriage' with Abhishek Bachchan, few are quite cynical about the very thought. "It won't last..", they comment - like experienced astrologers give their worthy advice after studying the Kundli's.
"Aishwarya is not good enough", most say - but seriously, I think the chick has some guts for proceeding with this marriage.

First, going in a household that is so strong on its spiritual beliefs (superstition anyone?), that they won't budge a chair in the house without their Pandit's kind consideration - is no joke in itself. With the whole Manglik fiasco to rule this match, how can a girl be positively attracted to a man who is a no-brainer to make decisions for himself?
Second, the double standards are way beyond themselves. Why the brows raised on the Aish-Hrithik liplock in Dhoom 2 or objections on her short dresses by the infamous Jaya Bachchan? Personally, I feel, if they can't respect the career of the new bahu of the family, would she be even allowed to continue movies post-marriage? Aishwarya is not really at the pinnacle of her career right now, but is it going to be 'the end' before she can even try?
Third, the obvious contrast. Okay, looks aren't everything. But in the glam industry, you know more than that. Am I the only one who doesn't think Abhishek is good looking? Of course, Aishwarya isn't the ultimate answer to beauty, but there really isn't a match between the two. Infact, they look quite awkward as a couple.
Fourth, its a serious end to Aishwarya's career. Of course, the Bachchan's have made it obvious about their unhappiness related to her 'exposing scenes' and Amitabh Bachchan has commented on occasions that he's looking forward to grandson very soon. So is Aishwarya going to be the typical bahu to grace the Bachchan family with a waaris as soon as they get married?

Sincerely, if they're destined to become a couple - then why the hesitant answers when questioned about it. Aishwarya Bachchan - sounds too filmy to be true.
Abhishek Rai - they should consider that instead. I would like to see Aishwarya make the Small B take care of the little one, while she goes on the shoot and bares it all.
Women Liberation - here we come!

I want a Favicon!

What is a favicon?

A favicon (short for "favorites icon"), also known as a page icon, is an icon associated with a particular website or webpage. Browsers that support favicons may display them in the browser's URL bar, next to the site's name in lists of bookmarks, and next to the page's title in a tabbed document interface.

How do I put one on my website?

Convert you logo or desired picture to 16x16 pixels in size. Save the image as an ICO file as 'favicon.ico'. Upload it to your website in the root directory. Popular browsers will recognize this immediately and put it to action. And if all this is german to you - try this tool. It works like a charm.

I want an animated favicon - how do I achieve that?

Of course, favicons are cool and add that personalized touch to your website - but why not go that extra mile and create an animated one - like on this site. This is a pretty simple effect to achieve. Just use an animated gif instead of a regular one. Convert that to a favicon.ico file and you're all set to go.

I like this!

So do I! Leave your site URL in the comments section for me to know if I've been able to help you. Feel free to contact me for more information.

And if you're wondering why I don't have a favicon yet - its 'coz I was too busy figuring out how...

Kajol's Kodak Moment

Are we missing something here with Kajol? Her ill-fitted jacket is not just terribly shiny, but is also in an amazingly mismatched color combination. Kindly note the matching scheme here - blue & red jacket, black top, blue jeans, beige purse, shiny pink lipstick, sparking white diamonds - I don't see a sequence here, do you? Maybe parrot green shoes to match?
She's obviously in an awe of something - but sincerely, what normal person would normally make an expression like that? Try putting your tongue inbetween your lips in this awkward position, and you'd see how exclusive would be the chance to be actually caught on camera with a moment like this one.
She sincerely needs a new stylist. Did I mention, I'm available?

Cheeky Cheekus

A frivolous question irked my thirst for knowledge this morning over breakfast. While eating the sweet brown fruit - cheeku, it made me wonder what do they call it in english?
I certainly don't remember being taught so in school, nor did I encounter it in any fruit chart/book while doing it with the kids at my club.
I asked numerous people - but all failed, convinced they must be knowing it and blaming it on failed memory.
Apparently, the preschool syllabus is in definite need of this alteration.
Cheeku in english is called Sapodilla.
Thank you wikipedia!

Logically Dreaming

The only bad thing about winters is, well - the fact that they're so cold. As a child, I would look forward to a long lazy winter, spent relaxing in bed, racing against time to finish innumerable novels. As an adult, it seems to be quite a hinderance instead.
Sleep is so bountiful, that one hardly even finds the energy to work or to convince oneself to work. One only looks for excuses to indulge in a hot cup of coffee or a long hot bath.
But the committments made, are committments to be honored - and thats only a part of the story.
Yesterday, my little friend Ishika from my club dropped in. Apparently, some drawing competition at school provoked the little one to come to me for the rescue. The concept, she said, was 'My Dream Car'.
What she showed me was a car decorated with flowers and a heart, over a pretty garden, under a blue blue sky.
What I led her to draw was a car with lollipops and chocolates swimming over the blue ocean under a sky with smiley clouds.
I don't think she liked it very much, but I insisted the creative way is the way to go. 'But cars don't swim, maam!', she argued, 'and clouds don't have faces..."
I hate it when logic rules over imagination...

New Design Portfolio

The portfolio has been revamped and updated with the latest showcase of my freelance work. Its more vibrant, enthusiastic and spells uniqueness in its own way. Using purely CSS as its framework and Joomla as backend - I'm so proud of myself for even coming this far to making this happen.
The works are now put together under a single portfolio head instead of classifications as the previous one. The natural element is infused in the design with leavy borders splattered here and there. I hope it represents a new era in my style of design.
If you chance upon it, do please be kind and leave me a message with your thoughts about it. After all, coming so far asked for more than just decent design skills. It needed you!

Party Away

Attended a function today in the early noon. I was amazed an entire new wing is developed in the neighbor's house to host functions. The entire basement is dedicated to this very end - looking more like a banquet hall than a part of the house itself.
I wondered to myself how many parties would one host here. Maybe once every two months? Would the maintenance cost surpass the cost of doing one in a banquet hall or not? The amount of glasswork and the intricate features would surely need full-time staff dedicated to this alone. It brings about a new trend in the city - having personal party basements to host a myriad of parties at the drop of a hat.
Social gatherings are only looking for excuses and one merely waits for the smallest of reasons to throw and be a part of parties. This in turn boosts up the sales of party planners and dress designers alike. What happened to the good old days when people could just get together for the sake of it, dressed in casual clothing - with only popcorns to pacify their hunger..? I guess now its more about the look of it all than the sense.
Well, party away!

Adobe Photoshop CS3 - Beta Released!

For all you graphic design enthusiasts, this is surely the news to shake up your world. The Adobe Photoshop CS3 Beta has been officially released, and while I'm waiting for the final version to come along, there have been a few to delve into its exciting territories.
Scott Kelby introduces the 10 most exciting features this version has to offer, and from the looks of it I have to admit it is extremely impressive. John Nack has a whole listing on the exciting CS3 Beta resources.
A lot more efficient, much more effective and ease of usage is on the cards. Lets hope it surprises us even further when it finally does release...

Lighting up the Loo

If you're pondering over what to give your loved ones this Christmas, or well even at the advance of the new year, don't you worry, for I have found a divine solution.
Did someone say novelty? Well, this is novelty de creme - be sure to get some very 'big' reactions when you surprise that special someone with this special item.
Do I have your jaws dropped, your brows raised yet? Of course I do - here it is - the LED Lighted Toilet Seat!, equipped with sparkling blue lights to make your next visit to the toilet, an adventurous one.
While on the road for interesting toilet seats, you might also like to sample the Handsfree Toilet Seat, letting you be in charge of putting up or down the seat at the slightest touch of a button.
Not feeling enough in control yet with stars under you or the ultimate control in your hands? Well, how about the toilet seat with built in sensors, so when it knows someone's on it, a gaming console extends from behind with a million preloaded games for you to choose from and not waste any time doing your business.
Didn't see a link for that one, and you are still clicking incontrollably to get it? Well, I might have the honour of putting that dream to reality. Order while stock lasts!

FutureBazaar.com - Blast from the Past

For those of you who dread the idea of visiting your local Big Bazaar outlet to buy your daily necessities, well FutureBazaar.com can't really help you much. Although, I am sure the idea was to provide consumer goods on a feasible platform for the tech-savvy to save the time and energy, one would really question if the catalogue is viable enough for online sales?
The highlight on FutureBazaar is on electronics rather than general goods. And one would really not want to buy an expensive good off the internet just like that. After all, we Indians are known to really squeeze the juice out of every product before we can actually make a decision.
So is Pantaloons expecting to sell a lot of washing machines or Ipods by the means of an online platform like that? They could do well with a good apparel range, perhaps, but sticking to the Rs. 89 only t-shirt formula is not going to help - considering the market has already made the shift to quality over affordability.
Talking of functionality, the website offers basic functions - making it fairly easy to navigate and get what you need to get done. The design doesn't appeal to my senses crying loudly for some splash of co-ordinated colors or maybe even an overhaul altogether.
While this might be a revolution for online retailing for Indian consumers with a complete change of catalogue and design, futurebazaar.com is really not from the future. It is from the ancient past, when people wanted cheap stuff regardless of quality, and didn't have access to other online avenues.
