The Ransom of Red Chief

When no one from class turned up yesterday at college, I had little option but to go to the library for a literary escape. The long stretch of books ranging from photography to filmmaking showed little promise in its dusty covers.
Finally deciding on a book of short stories compiled by a professor from Hindu College (if my fellow Stephanians find out a book as such exists in the college library, they may burn the entire shelf altogether), I sat down to console my social longing.
The Ransom of Red Chief by O Henry happened to be the highlight of the day. It talks of two 'desparate' men who kidnap the son of a rich man in hope of a ransom to make their days easier. The whole ordeal of handling the rascal has you in splits and the end leaves a gigantic smile on your face.
A definite bookmark!

O Henry is probably the best short story writer in my list. The twist and turns of his stories are just unmatched.
