Jewel Eyed

Dutch eye surgeons have implanted tiny pieces of jewelry called "JewelEye" in the mucous membrane of the eyes of six women and one man in cosmetic surgery pioneered by an ophthalmic surgery research and development institute in Rotterdam.
The procedure involves inserting a 3.5 mm (0.13 inch) wide piece of specially developed jewelry -- the range includes a glittering half-moon or heart -- into the eye's mucous membrane under local anesthetic at a cost of 500 to 1,000 euros ($600 to $1,200).

I think they can develop a 'lime' for my eye...

this is really cool for the jewel lovers.. although I dont like to wear any jewels.. but gadgets.. keep'em coming.. lol.. I bet lots of care needs to be taken of eyes after this surgery.

I wouldn't support that. Just looking at it makes me feel sick and weak. But how does one show it off? Its so far back in the eyeball. Hardly visible to someone who doesn't know you've got it done. And I don't think there're much styles available.

(I read this in HT about a month ago. The same pic and the same text)

Ouch! Does that hurt?!

I'd read about this quite a while back. Its quite interesting to see how far people would go to take fashion to new heights. Having said that, i wonder if they have any glow in the dark ones, and... would anyone want to sponsor me? =P
As for the cross-browser issue, bah.. i'm having a tough time reading the posts.. some parts look chopped off.. and i have to make them up on my own. IE girlie.. good for you.. but IMO i think you need to consider other browsers, esp. firefox. Read my related thread at SU under General Discussions. Cheers!

Preet Chandhoke:

What next :P

Preet Chandhoke:

I dropped by my university last week - and happen to see my prof. at Computer Sci Dept. (i never completed his couse though) - anyhow this guy - he wears a webcam on him - I mean 24x7 his webcam which is on his head is 'ALWAYS ON' and he records all the events his eye see's. And if this is not enough - there is another person who has implanted memory sticks in his arm!

And now even Levi is making clothes which have gadgets (MP3 players, digicams etc.) built into jackets and stuff...

That is so insane Preet. What about privacy? Man these people need help.

Lime:

Dhaval: Dunno about the after-care, but it sure is a strange way to quench your thirst for unique vanity.

Rohit: Thats true - it would be barely visible. But who knows what runs through these people's head. The original CNN link where this story was posted has a poll on the same - and only 14% think they'd get it done. Everyone else, just plain hates it.

Shonal: :P I wouldn't know!

iamlame: I'd have to give it a shot - if not for my blog, then for my portfolio. You'd get a shout from me regarding that soon - I am in the process of launching my updated portfolio :)

Preet: Is that just another way to remind me you're having the time of your life?!
