Chocolate Tonight

My friend told me this half-giggling and left me in splits with the short tale. A girl in her family recently got engaged and begun the ritual of talking on the phone. Personally, I think its funky talking to your arranged match trying to find out (and believe!) more about the andekha anjana in your life. Only, it is quite a tragedy that soon you realize there is not much in your life to discuss, talk about or even flaunt anymore. And then you shift from educational backgrounds and artistic interests to more petty matters.
So this engaged couple too reach this doomed stage and realize they really haven't got much to say.
So, our of sheer ingenuinety the girl asks -
"Which chocolate is your favorite?"
"Bar One", comes a feeble reply.
Silence.
"Which chocolate is your favorite?", reciprocates her fiance.
"I eat After Eight", she answers.
Long Pause.
"Whats wrong with eating before 8?"
"No, no, its the name of a chocolate"
"Oh".

The incident slithered its way into both families and led to quite a few laughing riots. And much teasing followed the poor guy around. Treat this as a fair warning - you never know what chocolate your fiance may like...

..that was a nice one...Don't expect half of her treats when she says "I like 50-50"

Thats funny, the poor guy never heard about After Eight chocalate

BTW i also never heard about this chocalate After Eight... sounds like a rums brand name :D

I eat Dairy Milk

heh thats really... heh.. I mean not really funny.. actually because after 8 is not so famous chocolate.. I personally didnt liked after 8 much.. its ok... and nice idea to mixup chocolate with mint.. but didnt liked it much.

Lime:

Patrix: Oh yes.. the guy would already get nightmares of the family inheritance being divided equally... or the rupees in his pocket being torn in half.. thats a scary one really!

Kushagra: Tragic.. isn't it..! And so embarassing! You eat milk? Would've thought its something you glug down.. ;)

Dhaval: Its not a favorite amongst many, but most people do know its the name of a chocolate. And once upon a time, I loved it alot! Infact, we considered it a good luck charm before exams - and everyone would eat mint after mint in hope to be the top-scorer.. barely passing is another story altogether for most of us :S

Ajay:

Lol, yeah.. I've been thru all this last year myself..luckily our conversations weren't this banal! My finace realized soon enough how much I detest such small talk! :-)
BTW, this is a great looking blog!

Lime:

Ajay: Glad to hear you found worthy things to discuss during your courtship, perhaps you could guide those unfortunate ones who seem to loose touch with their intellectual selves soon after they're deemed engaged. But I do think there is a saturation point - in this case, it only came too soon - leaving behind a blushing, chagrined guy :)
BTW, thank you! I can never get tired of hearing that :D

lol...hehe..well something like this happened to me as well..dont get any ideas...it wasn't wid any fiance..

hehe, Me too haven't heard of this chocolate much
, but still a funny conversation. I

Tragic, i dont think so...errrrrrrrr i hate choclates

Lime:

Shonal: Thankfully, I am quite updated on the delicacies bit - so haven't faced such a situation yet, but with upcoming funky brand names, you never know when one falls prey!

Sarthak: You haven't? You know Baskin & Robbins even introduced an ice-cream flavour called After Eight following its trend. Although B&R has failed mostly all over the national map, the flavour was quite an elegant touch with chocolate and mint.

Kushagra: But being informed doesn't hurt, does it?

No way it does'nt hurt but cmon no one needs to remember all the chocolate brands in the world and there is nothing tragical about it...

Lime:

Kushagra: Perhaps not all, but its only instances as such which provoke a person to widen their horizons a little - it never hurts to have extra information handy.. perhaps you differ on that :)

He he! Poor man. Even his kids'll tease him if they ever find out.

And you know what, there's been a murder below my house, on the ground floor. An elderly man, hit on the head with a flower pot, and his wife tied up while the thief ransacks the house. The poor lady's lost memory ever since. And the whole society is worried about their safety! Delhi is hell! Wheeew, that's a great load off my back.

Lime:

Rohit: I know :P His kids would probably use it as a blackmail against him ;) Imagine the possibilities!
Thats very depressing news early in the morning (yes, 11a.m. is quite early!) Delhi is surely hell, makes me wanna reach for a burglar alarm immediately. And have one of those advanced security systems. After all, what more is important to a person than safety?
And happening in one's own society.. and one's own building - darn, you won't be able to sleep for weeks to come! Poor thing :(

No, you got me all wrong i dont differ or disagree with you, a little more knowledge is always welcome in whatever form it may come, but calling it tragical is not the best way to boast about your knowledge
