Musical Musings

I have had the pleasure (?) of having a Mandir just few blocks away from what I like to call 'home'. The holy spirits send across their love in the form of very loud pooja blearing from the loudspeakers, aptly positioned right across my house - day, afternoon and evening.
It is of course not of consideration to the devouts that few people might be trying to accomplish their academic goals and this country is in a big mess if religion comes in their way. Does God have spare time at two in the afternoon or five in the evening? How do they decide when exactly to start off and when to conclude?
What surprises me even further is how musically inclined the Param-aatma really is. And how piracy is the key to the heaven's doors. I can hear remixed versions of popular songs coming in from all ends at odd times, the only difference being in the lyrics. 'Pyaar ho jaege' from our famous around-the-tree songs becomes 'Paap ho jaega'.
My fears are purely limited to the all-mighty's blessings. Will I be devoid of any if I don't sing relyricized bollywood songs into loudspeakers at inappropriate hours? If that be the case, I doubt if I'd ever pass school at all...

The same problem here.

It wouldn't have been so terrible if it were some melodious voice, but for heavens sake, they're literally screeching! Like a man's rough, torn voice from a woman's throat. And they have spoons and 'chan-chan' thingies as instruments. And why do they need loud speakers? As if any other person in the whole world, really wants to hear them. Loud enough to wake god up in heaven! And they seem to complain when my neighbours listen to Kylie Minogue, which I consider a holy blessing in disguise, rather than to listen to shouts and screams called bhajans. Academics or no academics, even if the sky falls down, or an earthquake manages to bring down the mandir, they'll sing and sing to ther hearts delight!

They might be much older then us, but I'm not too young to understand how to show devotion to one's god. And this is definately not what I had in mind. They need to wake up and change their thinking. We need a bhajan revolution!

Why can't they assemble there and pray silently? Will that make their call for god any less? Or does screaming with loudspeakers manage to get the decibal level high enought to reach mangal graha, so they can pray it won't become bhaari on them. lol, it'll surely manage to make the rovers at mars malfunction! Did mirabai scream with loudspeakers to show her devotion to gods? Or is it just because they didn't have loudspeakers at that time? :)

I just know how you feel for Allah comes personally to wake me up each morning.. Guess Hindi remixes are a million times better than Arabic Verses.

God Says: You can run, you can hide but you cant escape my love (...relyricized bollywood songs...)

hoho..funny one!

Seriously Kushagra I prefer God I don't care what you do,as long as you love me..

Lime:

Rohit: First, a very hearty laugh from my end upon reading your comment. Each word is a reflection of my irritated soul - well said! Why do you have specialized instruments to please the Gods? Do they so awfully mind electric guitars or drums? And definitely, a big NO to loud speakers. Prayers can be recited in your heart, why be so vocal about it? Bhajan Revolution sounds like a great idea :P Wow, Rohit - we're the Generation next Pujari's in the making!

Sid: Wow, arabic verses.. I wonder how spiritually rocking is that?!

Kushagra: LOL - no wonder God is so meherbaan on Enrique.. eh! Especially the Saraswati Devi. Someone should've caught the Sifarishilal show on Sab TV yesterday. True reflection of what really happens in the mandirs... almost flabbergasting!
