Demeaning Showcases

Has anyone caught MTV Roadies?
Sheer display of down the drain Indian values. A total letdown on the youth. Every episode caters to the wild sentiments of any youth and explores the vulgarities of young life.
I don't think its a reality show. I think its all scripted and all those weirdos out there seriously need to reconsider the shame they're bringing to their parents who've certainly not brought them up in the spirit they showcase.
If someone from a respectable Delhi family is caught doing stuff or even participating in that show, his/her entry would be banned in this city. Such a degradation of moral values seriously demands censorship.
Airing at primetime, this show is bound to catch the attention of teenagers like me - if people are so desparate to air such a demeaning showcase, it should be after 11:00pm or so...
Then again, with the 'Meri Berry ke Ber' remixes on the music channels, I think there are a lot more agendas to be taken care of alongwith.

I take great care to avoid these 'desi'music channels for I can't stand the phony VJs.And you just confirmed my worst fears..

U r absolutely right Lime.....I think the same 4 MTV Roadies. It looks planned and not real. They r truly showing off.....and with their abusive words.....they make themselves stupid.....my cousin brother tried to be a part of the show......like many other people....coz the point was that they have to drive Karizma bikes.....and go through 40 cities. It looked really interesting and fun. But.....instead of bikes they show this stupid stuff.

hmm.. have not see that show, but I liked one used to come on Zee TV, didnt remember it's name but it was cool show.

Lime:

Linus: You know Sid, we never started out with music channels with reality shows in mind - in fact, we never started out with anything but music or maybe remotely even movies.
I don't know how something like 'Bakra' or 'Loveline' or 'Roadies' is related to music. Also, having a show like Roadies is really exposing the youth to a lot of dubious things - like swearing, sex and the likes - without any questions raised. I wonder how they get a right to air anything at all and no one has anything to say in its objection?
Kartik: The auditions for Delhi were held in our school itself - I think its so sad that we're calling such shows 'entertainment'. Seriously, we're just becoming wasted - bigtime.
Dhaval: I don't think the television has ever aired shows as such before - this has to be the first to really irk my nerves...

Wow. You sound pissed. What do these guys do on this show anyway?

Lime:

Abhimanyu: The basic idea of the show is described above by Kartik - some 40 odd cities on Bikes. For some reason, the show producers have decided to add vulgar truth and dare games, experiences of a blind date, allowing excessive swearing, peek into the personal lives and to top it all off - suggestive sexual references.
I wish someone would bother enough to keep an episode guide online to really explain what happens in each show, since its impossible for me to tolerate the sheer nonsense that takes place - women being asked to dance wearing bare minimum clothes, kiss guys, guys getting their legs waxed - what not!
Its a madhouse.. and airing it on TV is a disgrace to the entire industry.

I cant agree more with you...but i m sorry to say that this is not the way world works...if you will ask me i would love to take a girl on bike to 40 odd cities this could well be one of my wildest fantasies...the youth of today(mind you except sensible ones) are very expressive and the M Tvs and the Channels V have a core competency in making it a profitable business...whether it may be in form of a reality show(Roadies) or paying 5000 bucks to college girls in Pune to Strip down pub;lic (i hope you remember the channel V's controversial show "V DARES YOU" anyhow thats the way it is...i m glad that you gave a thought to it

aah thats really bad show.. well, not exactly that kin dof reality show I am talking about.. on ZEE there used to come reality show, in that show only couples could participate and they had to find thier way to the finish line, by driving, or rafting or whatever.. and if they reach the finish line, they are the best couple and they get prizes... so remember now?

I think MTV's this reality show is totally vulgur should be banned.. upto some limit blind datesa dn things.. its ok.. but then swearing and all those stuff.. should not be allowed.

hey got a chance to catch that show on TV today evening.. didn't liked it much.. but its ok kind of show..

just completed constructing my blog...pay a visit

Lime:

Kushagra: Yes, I do agree its an exploitable facet - but its not fair.. the youth was just as expressive ten years back but there were not outlets like MTV's and Channel V's to get that out of their system - hence the decency eventually prevailed. When you encourage such things, there is really no hope for anything left.
Dhaval: Trust me, there is no comparison between what you're talking and what I am - we're talking on complete different levels. Its not a gameshow - there is no competition.. its just some stupid scripted vulgar display! And thats the end of it.

ya I saw today.. and its totally different then what used to come on ZEE, but on ZEE it was called as reality show only.. but this MTV show.. its ok kind.. yeah but vulgarity is there.. didnt liked it much.. dont think so I will see it again.

Yea...ritely said but i think the people today especially children in their early teens are liking it...
i just caut up with a recent one...sending all of them to a pathetic...boring blind dates. :O

Its not a question of encouragement...what seems right to you may seem wrong to other...so the most optimal solution will be filtering and editing the content of the show instead of banning it. I think in India we dont have a censor board for TV. do we? So may be its time we have one.Whatch ya say?

Lime:

Dhaval & Shonal: It might seem mediocre at first, but you gotta check out more episodes...
Kushagra: But of course, thats my point, we need a certain authority to do something - like I said, its not right to 1) Air it on a popular channel with youth viewership and 2) Air it at an accessible time.
Definitely, someone needs to step in and do the needful. I seriously am thinking about this censorship issue - if they had a censor, Ekta Kapoor would be banned :P all the pregnancies begin from her serials only..!

if they had a censor, Ekta Kapoor would be banned :P all the pregnancies begin from her serials only..!............Geek LOL :D great observation girl

Lime:

Kushagra: Really.. imagine - the likes of Kyunki and Kahaani deal with revolting topics as such.. and if there really was a genuine censor board, Ekta would just be - Jeetendra's overweight daughter, and not a business tycoon.
