Delhi Metro

If there's one thing I'm finally proud of with regard to this city, which so fondly brands itself as this national's capital - its the Delhi Metro. Never could I have imagined hygienic surroundings and systematic management with anything related to us Dilli-waasi's. The entire station gets mopped every few minutes and the train itself is quite clean. There were newspaper reports about the mishandling of the new train and the filth that people spread. Seeing the present condition, that only seems like a figment of the press's imagination. The Metro is fast and quite reasonably priced. Normally, you would get place to sit, and even if you don't - the distance seems so short that you don't quite mind. People from all walks of life meet you but they're all subtle and decent and mind their own business - quite contrary to popular belief. The parking facility is available at stations and the Metro can save you upto half an hour considering the normal Delhi traffic which is extremely cruel. The train looks good and the high standard maintainance makes it a joyride. For all you fellow Dilli-waala's - a high recommendation!

I will try to catch a pic sometime and will post it on my blog. I liked the station and train of the Metro Rail at Delhi, station very clean.. and metro rail also looks new.. heh..

would be a great help in boosting Delhi's image if the plans to bid for 2016 Olympics goes thru

Just wondering - where does this train go from ? Does it cover residential areas like GK I/II and commercial areas like South Ex and the like?

Preet Chandhoke:

Welcome to India 2020, this is what all of India is going to be by 2020, as part of "India, Vision 2020". Metro's, Sky Trains, and Six Lane toll & toll-free highways are all part of the infrastructure that is going to make India a developed super power nation.

Dhaval: Wow, that sounds way back - and I'm sure the hygience factor goes down the drain due to all that.. eh? Crazy! And yep - the rail and the station, both are well maintained - thank God and the Delhi Govt. for that!
Patrix: How about the Oscars? :P
Abhimanyu: It starts from Inderlok uptil Trinagar, I believe.. wherever they are!
Preet: 2020 - I'd have gray hair by then.. and you'd have four kids! Both sound equally spooky.. eh!?
