Textually Yours

Went to Capitol (Hotel Ashok) yesterday for a blast of a Christmas bash. Good crowd and exceptional music made the afternoon an affair to remember.
Danced till my toes kissed this world goodbye. Laughed till my jaws gave up. Once the dance party was over and done with, we made our way to some good food. What pretty much spoilt most of the fun was that my friends were so hooked to sms'es - while dancing, while walking, while talking, while eating, while travelling - it was so astoundingly irritating.
A couple of weeks ago, I read about SMS addiction. I think its time we welcome it to our nation. In any case, we're a country of festivals which is a great excuse to send and forward messages. Many teens have resorted to SMS chats and SMS flirting - most even now check and reply to their e-mails via SMS and communicate to Yahoo! Messenger pals through the same.
I don't understand the simple economics of it - a single SMS costs you Rs. 1.50/- For the same amount, you can talk on the cellphone for more than 1.5 minutes. And talk much more than you can communicate in a few lines that you do through SMSing.
Alas, the mobile subscribers are just whooping in number and with EMS and MMS joining the league, God save India!

Lime.....nowadays typing a sms is more fun then talking on phone......Ya it becomes irritating.......if we stick to it.....but nobody can help as it is a big addiction......u don't like sms?

heh SMS its fun nice cute.. but I dont use it often.. whenever I am at party.. or in communication I put my mobile in silent.. and if I recive sms I dont look at it.. I look at all my sms at once when I get free time.. yet if something urget is there.. then I have told them to just miss call me two times.. and I will get that its urgent call and stuff like that, becasue its very disturbing in conversation or fun and stuff.. once I was working on logic for a software, but was not getting it.. and got a little irretated..and here..SMS were keep on coming.. and I got so much irreated I threw my mobile away.. but on bed. but yet SMS are too useful.. well, I dont use SMS for checking email or messenger as I got GPRS connection.. and ya SMS too costly 1.5rs.. actually i should be free becasue they dont have to pay anything or atleast if they make it .50paise as before then SMS will be used more and they will make profit a lot, anyways reliance INDIAn company is there to save all of us..

Yeah...Dhaval.....GPRS....is cool.....I also reply to my messages from yahoo through GPRS.......but recieving via sms is fine as its free....lol. So we all should log on to our cellphones from yahoo......as we can recieve the importnat messages at the same time....and then reply via GPRS.

Kartik: I am seriously hurt with the kind of response I am getting from you guys. You people make this blog happen, and you people are out to destroy it? Please don't bring it up here anymore - if you want to sort things out find an alternative.

Sorry..Lime....I know it doesn't feel good have this on ur blog...but i cant find any alternative...as that person didn't leave any email add. or something. I wont repeat it...sorry...but please think about that IP Address thing. Sorry Again....

Lime:

Kartik: See I didn't start anything, so please don't involve me into this - I think its breach of trust if I go around passing IP addresses - please relax. You will get nothing out of making issues. And please don't apologize, its okay. But don't mention this again.

Our people tend to fall for any new videshi thing that hits the market. And you know, its becoming more and more irritating by the day. I go to the tuitions, when the teacher walks out of class for a sec, they'll all form a large crowd digging their eyes into that tiny screen. And when the tuition's over, they'll exchange sms'es and just stare at each other's mobiles as if its a sack of gold. And it really gets to me when my conversation is interrupted by the other person's mobile ringing. It can get very irritating you know. What's the fun of it all. Why is everyne so crazy about it, it's nothing like the computer, yet they're always getting it outta their pockets even while crossing the street, at the grocery store, in smeone's house, even in their bathroom. If its so grand, then why don't I find it so fascinating? I really wouldn't want one till I grow up, it's not cool, it looks sick in the hands of teen. And I'm one quite gadget crazy myself. Oh well, someone please answer that one :)

lol Rohit.. neither I know.. even I am gadget crazy.. but mobile dont no why but nvr fascinated me.. heh.. maybe we are Pisces that's why.. lol..

Yea, maybe, but I'm half piscean-hlaf aries, since I was born on the last day of the piscean system of weeks. So that means I can't be similar to any piscean, but more similar to an arian before the 7th of april. Ok ok, lets not get to strological now. But its not that we don't like mobile phones because we're pisceans, but share views of common consuers, irritated consumers I should say, of this beeper-addicted world! :D

heh yeah I know man.. I dont belive in those ZODIAC stuff.. I was just commenting on it.. heh..

No way.....i also like gizmos.....and cell phones r really cool...especially when it gets to camera phones....I like to do sms.....but more than that I'm busy shooting funny videos from my Nokia 3650.

its now official, the 2004 date sheets. Get yours on http://education.nic.in/htmlweb/cbse_xii_datesheet_2004.htm or just go to the cbse website and make yur way through.

Forget about cell phones, wrist watches are totally utta this world! And you can sms too. Forget sms, mail, news and everything a mobile can do. And they look spunky too and are always in sight, so you win't have to take the burden of taking t outta yur pocket everytime u wanna show off. I have the new CASIO 1124 color camera built-in. So damn cool. But doesn't have a USB outlet, the only problem.

Rohit....I also like these cool watches.....do u know about the web page of ur watch where I can have a look at it.......

well not the exact page. but its somewhere on the casio site.

ya those watches are CASIO cam watches or like that.. I remember its ad in TV first cam watch ever it was b/w. but very cool.. well, I also like watch.. I got CASIO database watch.. can store tel nos.. 5alarms, and many things, I dont wear that Community Star watch.. coz I like this CASIO one using it since 5yrs..well, the other Lime knows abt it.. pocket phone pc which I am planning to buy... is really cool.. can use it as PDA, Mobile, Browser, Messenger anything.. its almost like a computer.. and in future I m planning to go for Tablet PC.. I hope Tablet PC comes with the phone.. but damn sure they are not gona come with phone.. but they are taking place of laptop slowly.. Tablet PC rocks!!

If u r looking 4 a PDA cum phone...why not try Sony Ericcson P800.

Sunil:

Check out the P900. I don't know why but I feel like I missed something.

well, Kartik not really like PDA cum phone.. what I want is a phone having having a comp.. in which .NET Framework can be installed, and on which I can test my developed softwares while travelling.. so Pocket PC is cool for a little testing.. but then Tablet PC best for whatever.. can test and can develop applications also.

Lime:

Kartik: Definitely, its fun and we can relate our daily lives to it. But eventually, there is a line to be drawn. Don't you think its rude if you're out on a party dancing with people, but you can't take your hands off the cellphone. I like what Dhaval says about 'urgency'. It is not urgent for you to reply back to casual jokes or hi's over SMS when other people can possibly feel neglected. As for me, I stay away from SMS unless its long distance - when its affordable. I'd rather call someone than sms :)
Rohit: Exactly my sentiments. I think cellphones are now vanity. People go for looks rather than usability. Infact, whats the usability anyway? Its a simple phone. I don't understand the need to add camera's and FM radio's and MP3's etc.. to a phone!? We have cellphones swarming all over our school. Everyone has a cellphone - you name the model and you got it. My friend gets his cellphone replaced every 15 days because advanced models keep popping in. Its a worthless addiction. People should switch over to more productive things.
And thanks for the link to the datesheet, had to confirm my I.P. exam!
Dhaval: I had the CASIO watch too - with the databank and stopwatch and all. But in holi I spilled some color on it, and now it looks ugly ;) So don't wear it anymore. Really looking forward to seeing your Pocket PC!
Sunil: Thats how you feel when you turn up for a party just when the cake's being cut...! Oh well - welcome already!

aah thats too bad.. but hey it must be now color full from its metalic color or black color whichever model you got.. I dont think so I will go for any other watch till I find one.. I have my eye on SPOT watch http://www.microsoft.com/spot but its service is not here.. otherwise I would have brought one very soon.. although my CASIO watch is now looking tooo ugly.. you can get that 5yrs of use.. so many scratch and also its belt have got loosen 3times from the edge, but repaired it and used to.. I love it.. :D and abt Pocket PC.. I am tooo eager to get my hands on it :D

So here is the scene, I approach a cool looking damsel, exchange a few glances, then few words, and our mobile numbers, The next day I sms her, and after 10 sms we are dating in the rose garden. I simply LOVE the technology. Only if it all could be possible, Coz I still don't have a mobile, and the last trip to ethos watch showroom, provoked me so much that i wanted to be a robber :P, Only if i could have been normal, and not gadget freak ? :(
