I thought I'd post a summary of the techniques used for each work that I post on the blog, so here goes :
The graphic has been made mainly to signify two objects - the blue paper holder and the candy cane. For this purpose, the papersheets have been made by simple photoshop rectangle shapes with drop shadows. The background has been filled red with photoshop snowflakes. The S on the sheets is normal font with very little opacity. Both the objects have been given drop shadows.
The problem faced was the contrasting blue and yellow of the paper holder. So for this purpose an extra layer of red was added on the top with little opacity and blending mode color. That subtled the colors of the holder and the candy and gave them a better merge..

That's nice. You're very good at it! lol, at first I thought it was a picture frame. With the red frame and white paper in between. Somehow, I have a great fascination for candy canes. I love its shape and the two colors. Maybe cause we don't get them easily here! :D

Rohit: Oops.. photo frame :( Thats a total loss of ten minutes work.. anyway! I guess the explanation above does clarify stuff... I like candy canes myself - man we're such kids ;) I am definitely savoring this one for its sheer beauty!

looks cool.. for me it looked like a red one is a paper and the white one looks like a greeting card becasue you got two layers of white color so it looks like a greeting card.. heh.. too many thing in one art.. gr8 going.. ;) keep it up..
