Its raining marriages here in Delhi. Rediff confirms the figure of 12,000. Can you imagine that - every place is Delhi is hooked and booked for the night and many people ought to be party-hopping.
I can almost imagine the long queues lasting upto a couple of hours outside the farmhouses and the jampacked parade of baraats. Infact, as I type this - the music is quite prominent in my ears of a baraat in progress.
The mandirs and gurudwaras, the caterers, the designers - everyone's oughtta be making big bucks tonight. They oughtta earn a month's fee out of one night alone. I wonder if where Jupiter lies tonight really would make all the 12,000 marriages a grand success.
I also think Delhi would be at a great lack of horsey's for the night - perhaps some people would have to hire elephants or something for the grand entry. Maybe even donkeys - beggars can't be choosers.
The beauty parlour's oughtta be hogged with women of all shapes and sizes begging someone to fix their Sari's or adjust their lipper. The DJ's would make a trillion bucks tonight. The sky will be lighted with fireworks like a second diwali.
Matrimony surely hits the ceiling for the night.
As for me - I'll just sit back and hear the music...

I saw the number rise upto 15000 on NDTV. Wow! 2 years back I had to go for an engagement and a wedding in two extreme ends of Bombay. Thanks to the traffic jams reached the 2nd place at 12..thankfully it was a filmi wedding so it had just started! After that its been a big no-no for such events.

That's not music, that's noise. Disturbing noise. All day, all night! No concentration. But I still like watching it pass by my lane. There's something that attracts me to it. Not the noise of course. Man, 12000+ marriages, that means 50000+ new children, population explosion! More marriages, more noise, and more of watching the baraat pass by. And I hate how much these ppl like 2 flaunt their massive ceremonies. Just imagine how many stomachs v could feed with that money. There's more negativity to it, at least that;s what I feel. :)

Warning: This would be a long comment post ;)
Dhaval: Just wait and watch - the number is going to hit the roof on one of these days - that for sure will make the records! And man seems like a lot of people are waiting for the party...
Sarthak: Lots of hidden talents, eh? DJ I see! So whats the hot favorite amongst the shaadi crowd nowadays eh..?
Kushagra: That means that marriage is in fashion nowadays I guess - everyone's out to get married.. young or old :P So whens your number?
Kartik: Yea - the word party reminds me of a lot of fun - so excuse me while I go and have some :P
Amrita: I hope Bombay is not bombarded with weddings like Delhi is - there is something to do with what house Jupiter is for the sudden rise in the number.. I can imagine the kind of traffic one has to face on these days!
Sid: Make that a thunderbird!
Rohit: My mom had the same thing you said! But 50,000 is an exaggerated figure - for how can you alot more than four kids per couple? :P But surely it'll be one big mess... my friend said in America perhaps all month they don't have 12,000 weddings like Delhi :P
I think i'd agree!
Update on his wedding is that I did see the card - and it is a serious shaadi thats happening with the entire school and the family invited - I don't think its funny anymore though! I feel bad for the guy...

Hey, cool down..it was my first DJ assignment..and that too with nothing turning out to be a pro, had my PC, MY deack and all my MP3 collection out there, Used DSS DJ, which is quite good, Moreover...people here have developed a taste for UK bhangra TOPS, such as RISHI RICh and all..."Nahin Jeena", "Mundiyan To bach ke rahien" and "Shinda" did the trick this time, also the hot fav was "In DA club"... :D, It's really disappointing to see that guy is really getting married, sort of good, coz he is caring for his elders..and also bad...dunno..he had to die of this someday :P

Sounds cool enough to me Sarthak :) Can take it up as a secondary career option - the money makes it quite worth it - although I don't know the rates in Chd!
You should hear the madonna-britney remixed song by Rishi Rich - Me against the Music - try kazaa! :) I don't know why people are so obsessed with In Da Club - even in Delhi its such a craze - I don't find anything particularly fascinating about the song though!
I dont know why he's getting married - for his elders or for himself - or for some monetary reason.. perhaps its his granddad's wish or something..
The funny thing is - my friend goes.. so what if the granddad says next.. I want to see my grandson's son before I go :P

Dhaval: I think all this is a possibility :P This is the amusing side of the whole story - imagine, if the grandfather doesnt die for another 10 years - all this would be such a waste! :P
Kushagra: I don't like Shahrukh khan at all - infact I have a strict aversion towards all movies which have him - and the Karan Johar banner, except KKHH... So I just don't want to see that movie - even if it ends up being a blockbuster :S
