Firangi Fantasies

This really intrigues me. Why is the entertainment scene all clouded with phoren women nowadays? Are we implying that we Indians have a certain fascination for the whites - or the very complexion?
Suddenly movies are full of baywatch babes and music videos are cluttered with skimpily clad gori's.. I never though we could run out of skimpily clad women - why do we need those gori's to spice things up then?
Even the events are raged by such examples. I just caught a glimpse of a gori doing the Laila number from Samay at the Mrs.India event. I guess Isha Koppikar and the likes are soon going out of business considering the item numbers takeover by these foreigners.
I tell you - each normal looking phirangi lass I see on the roads these days looks like a prospective dancer to me. Talk about Indian fantasies..!

Couldn't agree more. I think its so embarassing to have them doing all that stuff. What impression do they have of our country and the culture when they go back home telling the media they danced on "main LA di maina". We're just making a fool out of ourselves. What's the fun of it all and what sense does it make when a baywatch babe lipses to cheap hindi songs which she can't understand a word of. I really don't understand the psychology of these directors and video makers. But what can we do at the end of the day. just watch and crib over the whole issue. I think that's what we've been doing so far, and most probably will continue to do so in the future. After all, it happens only in India! :D

Any information on when the BOARDS are commencing? I saw the official NCERT sample papers and blueprint booklet. The first page has in bold "Effective from March 2004 examination". So I guess the nightmare exams start from March. I just wish I could stop time :)

That's a good point. But beyond the local dancers, what about the imports coming into their 'home country' to 'get back to their roots' which JUST happens to be Bollywood, that is the funniest. Dont front being Indian just ask us for the money and we shall gladly hand it over.

p.s. wicked layout btw. Is that an actress on top or is that you?

well, if you look at this thing in +ve manner its good but also bad.. and if u look at it in -ve manner its worse.. ok, will tell you exactly, this directros are making this kind of videos.. theres some reasons, like now a days movies are not running much because of piracy and other things, so in order to make some little bit of money they have started doing this kind of things, from this ppl gets eager that wow she is there.. must watch.. and some directros are doing very well, they think of taking Bollywood in international level, so like Lagaan and other movies are just perfect for this things, now take a song, Babuji.. Yana Gupta(not sure abt the name) she is not Indian(if not mistaken) but when she gave interview she said that I want to get into the Indian culture while picturizing the song, so this way Indian culture is also expanding and lots of things.. ya bad things too.. now if you say that Indian culture is not like that.. ya agree but it was.. just take example Kamasutra thats what the Indian culture it(dont take it in a wrong manner, just think about it in a +ve manner).

Rohit: I dont feel that its wrong to get gori's into the films.. but I don't understand why they are utilized only for skin-show. Why can't a baywatch babe be portrayed as a good actress instead of a 'babe'? We've had in the past phoren men doing that - then why not women. I think its somehting to do with the stereotypical Indian thought and the fascination for the complexion maybe!
Abhimanyu: Everyone seems to be asking the same thing - nooo thats not me :P Thats some country singer that I can't remember the name of! But the next person who asks me this - yep thats me alright!
Dhaval: Yana Gupta is Indian. Anyway - the point is that even if you think that it promotes Indian culture abroad, I will not argue with that. But there are better ways to promote than item numbers, no? You can have them as full-fledged actresses or comperes on stage, rather than skin-show :) Whatja say?

Lime:

Rohit: Yea, I guess then Feb was just a rumor then - its stupid, the cbse website has nothing to offer! Not even the datesheet.. grrr!

Well, Bollywood is really roaring "Phirangis"....I too was watching the "Mrs. INDIA" show...and that performance too...and it's kinda cool for me...Like I think..Indian soul doesn't allows an Indian actress to expose her self...and I do wonder if these "Phirangies" do have a soul? No, I am not against anyone...The story line of "Out of control" demanded the BAY WATCH babe...and as for YANA gupta, it's nothing less than a publicity stunt...infact i find indian actresses to be too dumb..models turned actresses to be precise...I was just watching Celina in a interview, and all her answers were so skinny...there is nothing bad in getting a phirnagi...it's all about that..the show must go on...anyway...

Dont know what to say, i just say Out of Control 3-4 days back and i really liked Brande, whatever it may be Phirangi or Indian at the end of the day i should be entertained

Lime:

Sarthak: There is nothing like Indian soul left in Indian women nowadays - what are you talking.. you talk of Celina Jaitley - what is she wearing/not wearing is the hottest topic around the town. Of course the storyline demanded Brandy - but hey! it didn't demand her acting like a desparate dudette - why cant she be portrayed as a respectiv\ble actress? Does being a foreigner make her a special case or what? There is nothing wrong with importing talent - but only if its used as talent..! and not exploited...
Kushagra: Of course, she's a good looking lass - but at the end of the day entertainment has its price to pay - economically as well as socially. you just can't make money and think of its impact. We are promoting discriminations you know...

Gur you are right to an extent, but thats not the way world works, what seems wrong to your eyes may be right to the others and vice versa...

Anyhow i just wanted to tell this thing, i share my flat with a friend who happens to be a Sardar, after he watched this movie called "Hawaien" he was so influenced and emotionnalized by the movie that all his rationality went to sleep and he a made several invalid comments regarding the muslims and non-sikhs peeps and said that he feels insecure all the time livin in this bullshit country, the reason i wanted to tell you this was coz you rightly quoted that entertainment has its price to pay - economically as well as socially, well if a educated person can loose his rationality what about the others.. Any comments?

Cmon Geeky, don't be so hard. I' agree with Gursimran, completely. I mean doesn't all this irritate you. Unless that is, you liked the baywatch babe in OOC :P If that's the case, then of course you won't agree with us :)

Lime:

Kushagra: See, education does not force rationalities into a person - the maximum it can do is give a person a base to rationalize. If you're taught about the World War - you're not forced to think that it was wrong - but they give you a base for you to form your own opinion and hold it. I might think the World War was justified, you might think it was not. Period.
Entertainment similarly gives you a base to form opinions on. It is educating you on various issues, regardless of the format or the mould... but it is imparting some knowledge - after that its upto you to percieve it and make your decisions.
What I started off with was skimpily clad foreign women in Hindi entertainment industry. My problem was not with skimpily clad - we've accepted that in our society. My problem is the kind of discriminations gora's are being put to use to. Do you think that if someone like Nina Manuel - who is much on the darker side is placed against Brandy - people would still root for Nina? You see.. the whole idea of importing people from abroad is not based on talent. It is based on color. Complexion.
Why don't we have a black woman from US doing the OOC role? Because the entertainment thinks no one would prefer to see a black woman! Because this is India..!
You see in this case, the base is wrong. So we're forced to think wrong. The people are influenced wrong. That is my problem.
If you don't agree - its an independent choice. And I am not pushing my thinking on you.. I am sure you could have points you would want to differ on.. and I welcome those!
