The 9th Annual Delhi Book Fair is really a pesky excuse for one. The books fair has been cunningly deprived of the basic ingredient - books! The stalls are the kinds selling senseless binded pages which are sadly called 'books'. My hopes were totally shattered when I couldn't find Penguin India - why was I even there, I am still perplexed.
The entry is free, quite self-explanatory. Still it seems like Delhi has run out of book-lovers considering the sellers were busy swatting flies. The only sight on each stall was oodles of Harry Potters. I bought a Harry Potter for Rs. 50 once, and I till date maintain a visit to McDonalds (which I equally hate) would've been more worthwhile.
Still, it wasn't 'that' bad - I caught hold of four books -
The House of Blue Mangoes - David Davidar
We weren't Lovers like That - Navtej Sarna
Difficult Daughters - Manju Kapur
Any warnings before I begin on these?

hey ur rights.. book lovers are now very less in whole world only.. but hey I am true book lover.. not those studies books... but time pass books.. and specially I like to read books on history, philosophy, science, technology and any information giving books.. I will suggest you some book to read.. Freedom At Midnight - Jawaharlal Nehru, Discovery of India - Jawaharlal Nehru, Fountain Heads - not sure abt the author and there are many but must read above three books.. Freedom at midnight a little boring at starting but then its cool, and Discovery of India who will not like to know about his/her own country and Fountain Heads is also really good book.. will change your thinkings.. still I have not read it.. but I have heard about it.. I am looking after this book but not able to find.. oh and ya.. also read Mein Kampf - Adolf Hitler after reading this book you will really love Hitler.

God of Small things is good. Difficult Daughters sounds like something you'd like to read first ;) And The house of blue mangoes is supposed to be really good but I keep missing it at the library...I'm a kanjus..never spend on books when I can borrow them for a small amount...and my libraries have a huge and excellant collection. Didn't help you much..but it's upto you entirely. Take Care :) Glad to see that the site is back up(once again)..isn't this the third time I'm saying it? But site problems suck. cya.

Dhaval: Thanks for the recommendation - found all of them at the fair, but wasn't so sure - not much into political figures or philosophy. But will still keep a lookout. In any case, I am sure I will enjoy them just as much as you did.
Amrita: Lol, I know - the third time! Almost embarassed now to announce my return to blogging. Seems like it comes around every week now. I am glad I've made good choices - would've freaked out to know I have four books lying not worthy of being read! ;)

The God of small things isn't all that it promises.. The town Ayemenem being just a 10 min walk from my native village I can assure you Ms.Roy hasn't done justice to the place or the scene portrayed ... I believe Difficult daughters woud be something U'd like...
