I went to the Madame outlet at Gurgaon today and asked the salesgirl for a different color in the lower I showed interest in. Only, she wasn't the salesgirl and chagrined, I apologized.
Its a common mistake to suspect a quiet, simple and static girl as the salesgirl, but it must be embarassing for both concerned when such a thing takes place. I would strongly recommend the 'actual' salesgirls to wear some sort of uniform, or get it tatooed on their foreheads that they're the ones meant to help around the place. And its so wrong for people to look so vulnerable that someone would go around mistaking them for the salespeople.
I know (and warn) that I would beat the person black and blue if he/she dares to mistake me as the shopgirl.

Talking of mistaken identities , very recently I mistook a person to be a doctor and in great detail described my accident. I am just thankful he didn't break my other arm as well and even more surprised I didn't burst open his skull !!

lol right lime.. this had happend with me also.. but in diffrent way.. I was standing in one supermarket and was waiting for my mom and I was standing near the counter, one lady came and gave me all the products which she brought in the trolly and told me to check it out, I thought she is talking with someone else, and after some time.. she just yelled "Aye, ladke mein tere ko bol rahe hoon, yeh sabe dekh to..." I got scared and I told her sorry, I am not the counter man or a staff member of this market, I am waiting for my mom.. lol this was really crazy thing..
and yeah ur right they salesgirl or saledman should mark or wear uniform so that they can get identify easily..
Linus: now be careful next time.. heh.. but hey that guy really must have confused and must be thinking.. why the hell this guy is telling me all this things.. lol..

Linus: Utmost sympathies to your little mess-up, honestly, its really both irritating and embarassing for such a thing to occur. I almost ran out of the store myself with blushing cheeks :P
Dhaval: Wow, somebody mistaking you is even worse! Crap such situations - I guess the reason is simply 'coz u were hanging around doing nothing and she probably assumed that since you were not doing anything, you must be in-charge! Poor fella :P

FRANKLY, I was once mistaken to be the sales person of a Shopping Mall. I don't know what led those people, to ask the rates of those shirts but I was really blown off.
