Why do animals have tails? I mean why does God even bother bestowing them with that hairy long mass of skin? And if it actually serves a purpose, how come we don't have one? Sure, the possible explanation of evolving without a tail comes up - but hey, how come we lost it at the first place. If it really were a matter of evolution, how come the animals never evolved into tail-less creatures?
Rabbits have big fuzzy ones, dogs have long wagging ones and pigs have short curly ones - the variety's there, but the utility? I guess its best put across as - 'vanity'!

Animals did evolve into tailess beings called Homo Sapiens more commonly called Human beings :P. And who would dare enter the gouse when ur dog's tail has gone all rigid and stiff,eh?

well, the reason behind is environment.. Homo Sapiens were leaving in a diffrent environment then the others like dog, elephant.. and they found a way to walk on the floor and so they didnt needed tail and thats why we dont have tail.. but.. we do have tail.. but its size is very very small.. coz of small size it doesnt come out.. if u see the cycle of a small baby in a pregnant lady, you will see that, that baby is having small tail at the end and it is clearly visible.. so its just a environment and the life style which makes changes in the body..

Dhaval: Its funny that you say 'They didn't need it, so they didn't have it'. How can I possibly get rid of something, just because I don't need it. Do I chop off my tail? And how come the entire race of human beings underwent this transformation? I bet dogs don't need their tails - poor fella's, have to live with 'em!

Lime well, ya it is.. but u know how it works.. not like a I dont want it so I removd.. its not like that.. u must be aware of shaping.. I mean things gets shaped as it comes..and like that.. exactly thats the way it works.. and abt Dogs.. lol.. not sure abt DOG, but maybe they need tail for some work..
