Driving Bliss

This is my thought for the day.

"Lucky are those who have conquered the art of driving,
yet luckier are those who have a chauffer..."

My instructor was supposed to arrive at 7 in the morning. I was still sleeping when the darn doorbell rang. Donned in my nightdress and with my hair in a total mess, I bluntly looked outside to find him waiting. I told him to give me two minutes - he returned after four hours.
So at eleven in the morning, a novice like me set out to drive through the trucks and the rickshaws, the dogs and the cows. It was a bittersweet experience. While he constantly muttered in my ears about brakes and clutches, accelerators and mirrors, air-conditioners and honking - I followed it all with the innocence of a child.
I think whats really horrible about driving in Delhi is the fact that animals just pop out of nowhere, and so do rickshaw-wallas. Somehow you always end up behind a slow rickshaw and in front of an impatient car. You keep honking in vain and the guy honking behind makes you nervous.
One hour out in the heat and traffic, one hour of a man giving non-stop commentry about driving, one hour of accelerating, braking and clutching - thats all you need to realize the importance of peace and quiet.
Sitting at home in front of this computer with a Bryan Adams song turned full volume - I feel solitary bliss...

i'll complete 18 a couple of months hence, will learn then. good luck to u.

Hehe...I'll be the 1st of the 2-Lucky are those who have conquered the art of driving. It's a pain driving in India....but, Chandigarh won't be bad..I wanted to drive there so badly when I went there on a coll trip. But then Delhi n Mumbai are irritating. Best thing to do when you get ure license is drive around aimlessly with no one else in the car and you'll get the hang of it. I've been driving for sometime now and have finally mastered it with a lot of errors! And the worst thing now are the horrible potholes every 2m on the roads. I remember a line from a Bryan Adams song that I hummed when I went around driving about aimlessly for the first time..it's from Baby when you're gone..I've been driving up and down these streets, dunno what to do. Tc.

Abhi - I am yet to be 17 myself - but whats the point of living if you can't feel alive? (No - am no 007 fan, but sometimes filmi dialogues take over your creativity)

Amrita - How I envy you and your skill at the wheel - if only I could wheeze by all those maniacs on the road in a car I could actually drive - that seems like such a distant dream! Thanks for the Bryan A. song - since I absolutely love his songs - that'll be great inspiration!
